Protect the Department of Education | April 16, 2025 | The Brookville American

If we dismantle the Department of Education, we are leaving children with both visible and invisible disabilities – such as Attention Deficit Disorders, Mental Health struggles, etc. – without protection from discrimination based on the naturally occurring traits they were born with. This also means losing funding for Individualized Education Plans which are often implemented for children with such invisible disabilities to ensure they get the assistance they need to gain their grade school through high school education. This may mean losing access to a school due to the loss of funding provided to small city schools like North Decatur, Greensburg High School, and Batesville High School, who all depend on federal funds in part to keep running at the same level of productivity we see currently. -Victoria Martz
